Millfields Trust welcomes its first artist-in-residence Phil Magee

The Millfields Trust are delighted to announce their inaugural artist-in-residence as Plymouth based artist Phil Magee.  Phil’s residency will be located in the Trusts HQ in Stonehouse for an initial 12 week period.

Having just completed a recent solo exhibition “Set back to Zero”, the result of a six week residency at the Alamo Project: Supporting Emerging Artists, this opportunity will allow Phil to continue his working practice and professional development in the City of Plymouth.

Phil’s work consists of rearrangements of the commonplace. His materials are the space he finds himself in, and, more or less, the objects that come to hand. The tools he uses are straightforward: alignment, displacement, juxtaposition, and time – or timing.

Phil is a Stonehouse resident and a graduate of Fine Art at Plymouth University and his residency will form part of the Plymouth Art Weekender “Intervention HQ”.

Roger Pipe, General Manager of the Millfields Trust said:
“The Trust is really excited to collaborate with such a renowned and innovative artist.  We look forward to welcoming Phil and are excited about the prospect of HQ becoming a living gallery for Phil’s work which will attract interest from across the city.”
