Newsletter |
Welcome to our first edition of the Millfields Trust Newsletter for 2022! We are looking forward to a brighter year, and sharing our news about our tenants and everything we have been up to! With Spring around the corner and the world opening up more, we have lots to shout out about! |
PSEN Women’s Event
We were overwhelmed by the level of support and full house for our annual Women’s networking event as part of the Plymouth Social Enterprise Network festival in November. Amber Leach, Entrepreneur and Director of Established By Her Digital Marketing Agency took centre stage as our guest speaker with a refreshingly honest account of her career to date. It was so good to have an old fashioned face to face event and we met an amazing bunch of female business women.
Millfields Trust AGM
We think this was one of our best yet! We know AGMs can be a little dry at times, but here at the Millfields Trust, we think we buck the trend. We really set the bar high this year with Paul Cox, Managing Director of Shark Trust. Paul, a Marine Biologist talked us through the species of shark, and introduced us to the Greenland shark, the longest living shark on earth! We are truly in awe of what Paul and his team do for Sharks. To top the evening off, we enjoyed a hot buffet provided by our wonderful tenants Holly and Alistair from The Lord High Admiral, and devoured some amazing brownies from Just Dunne Baking whilst Paul from the Fitness Store played guitar. We are so lucky to have amazing and talented tenants and every year we look forward to celebrating them. Anyone is free to attend, look out for dates in November 2022! |
Millfields Inspired Project Co-ordinator
Millfields Inspired Project Co-ordinator We’ve expanded the Millfields Inspired team! We are delighted to welcome Ashlea Dodsworth who will be joining Millfields Inspired shortly as our new Project Co-ordinator. Ahlea’s main role will be to continue to run the highly successful Widening Horizons project which introduces the year 5 children of the Stonehouse schools to the wonderful world of work. We are delighted to announce that this project will soon expand into the schools of Devonport, and Ashlea will be working hard on making this happen. |
Fully funded training opportunities
We are joining forces with City College Plymouth to offer some fully funded training opportunities in 2022. These are likely to be in the areas of LinkedIn and Google Workspace. If you are interested in any of these opportunities, please follow our Facebook page for details of dates and how to book.
Tenant Spotlight
Each newsletter gives us a chance to spotlight a new tenant. Today we would like to introduce you to Carlton Cleaning who joined the Millfields Trust in November 2021.
Their business started 1985 by Martin Dutson. This man and his team knew how to clean things properly and the business steadily grew up over the years to become one of the most respected and well-liked businesses in the area. Sadly, Martin passed away in 2016 and the future of the business was placed in the hands of his son Lewis Dutson, who today is Managing Director.
Lewis didn’t just inherit this business, more importantly he inherited his father’s work ethic, his level of professionalism and his desire to make it successful by guaranteeing work, looking after clients properly and taking care of staff above all else.
These days, Lewis may well be the Managing Director of Carlton Cleaning, but he remains completely hands on, he’s involved completely and is intrinsic to the development of the business. His philosophy is simple … ‘never ask a member of the team to do something that you’re not prepared to do yourself’ and it’s why he’s as comfortable out on a job in overalls as he is meeting the accountant in a suit. There’s ‘clean’, then there’s ‘Carlton Cleaning clean’. For further information visit their website
