Meet Josanne Stewart from Millfields Inspired
Focussing on our showcase of inspirational women on International Women’s Day – #breakingthebias on 8th March, we would like to introduce our very own staff member: Josanne Stewart, Development Manager for Millfields Inspired*.
Josanne, born and bred in Plymouth has given a little background about herself:
I started my career in Purchasing and Supply, gaining my Chartered Institute status and taking positions as a buyer for a number of high tech and consumer organisations. I then worked for the Inward Investment team for the South West Regional Development Agency. After taking a short career break to bring up my two fabulous boys, I decided I wanted to return to work, and engage in something that “makes a difference” and I applied to be the Development Manager of Millfields Inspired. I have been in the role for just under seven years and I absolutely love it. I work with the seven primary schools of Stonehouse, taking the year 5 children out to different workplaces to allow them to explore lots of different industries and career paths.
Alongside her role for Millfields Inspired, Josanne’s passion for making a difference to children’s lives is actively displayed in her volunteering. She is chair of the PTFA for Devonport High School for boys, and also a school governor for Pilgrim Primary and she is actively involved with Plymouth Children in Poverty within her role as Millfields Inspired Development Manager.
Josanne said: “I am so lucky to have a job that I genuinely love, and I meet so many amazing people and organisations who share the same passions and desire to help children, many of whom come from disadvantaged backgrounds”.
*Millfields Inspired is a charity established and supported by the Millfields Trust, an established and respected social enterprise in the Stonehouse neighbourhood.
