Meet the Tenant – Refresh: Reach Wrestling

Through our Meet the Tenants feature we hope you’re seeing the wide variety of businesses that partner with us here at the Millfields Trust. In previous blogs, we’ve introduced you to Plymouth’s Number 1 Taxi Service, Easy Cars and Carlton Cleaning but today we’d like to reintroduce a tenant that has previously been featured – REACH Wrestling.

Regular readers of our blogs will remember REACH Wrestling from this blog nearly 2 years ago. However, a lot can change over 2 years, so we spoke to Jason from REACH Wrestling to introduce them to our new readers, catch up and find out about any exciting upcoming projects.

What is your business name and how long have you been in business?

Our name is REACH Wrestling and we’ve been in business since 2018. We are a family friendly professional wrestling organisation that specialises in live show entertainment across Somerset, Devon & Cornwall. We are often hired for events and festivals all across the South West of England. Additionally we have our full time training school that’s set up to help anyone and everyone that’s wanted to be a professional wrestler. We teach adults class open to all levels of fitness, and a kids class 2x a week open to anyone aged 8 and up.

Meet the Tenant – Refresh: Reach Wrestling, Millfields Trust

When and why did you get a unit in the Millfields Trust?

We like the security it offers, the convenience and the location. Millfields have been pretty good with us these past 5 years.

What does an average day look like for your business? What happens?

It’ll usually start with the answering of social media and email queries. Then we begin promoting the organisation and updating our members on any information they need or upcoming changes. Around 6pm each day we begin training until 9pm and class consists of basic cardiovascular work, stretching and some in ring technique work. We work hard but we keep it fun. Once class finishes we all wind down and discuss upcoming events and ideas and always ask our members what they achieved that day.

What types of challenges has your business faced in the past, present and possibly in the future?

Covid was obviously a huge problem for all small businesses and ours was no different. We were able to come through that and continue to grow new members as well.

At present the problem we face is getting our name out there to enough people, we want everyone to see that you can do this and that everyone is welcome, we offer a free taster session with no obligation to sign up, it allows people chance to just try something new.

In future, I’d say as we continue to grow we just need to ensure the correct infrastructure is in place.

If you could have one thing right now for your business, what would it be?

Someone dedicated to helping raise awareness of our organisation and our good people.

Plans for 2023?

We are building towards our debut show in the New Continental hotel in November. Former champion of Devon and Cornwall Jason King takes on former WWE Superstar Scotty 2 Hotty – tickets are selling very fast for this with front row now sold out.

What’s the best business advice you have ever received? Or, what is your business mantra?

Best advice was to remember success is not always a straight line. Our business and team mantra is Embrace the Grind.

What do you love about being in Stonehouse and Plymouth?

We love being in Stonehouse because it’s got a real local feel to it. Plymouth is great because it has a lovely community and we always enjoy helping in any way we can.
