Having worked within another organisation since 2017, Lockdown 2020 offered Suzie the opportunity to set up independently as Rainbow Counselling SW. The inspiration behind this was to open Plymouth’s first dedicated LGBTQ+ counselling service, offering a safe and welcoming space to explore all areas of life and identity without judgement.
With 3 years as a qualified therapist, Rainbow Counselling SW offers warm, confidential, professional and effective counselling. Suzie helps people to overcome many challenging areas including depression, anxiety, trauma, loss, relationships, low confidence, phobias and feeling suicidal, with a particular focus on wholeness and self-acceptance.
Prior to her counselling training, Suzie gained a BSc (Hons) Psychology degree from Royal Holloway, University of London in 2013. Since then she has lived in Australia and travelled New Zealand and Fiji, and is now very happy to be settled in Devon. Suzie has volunteered with The Samaritans, and worked extensively as a community carer with elderly and disabled residents of Plymouth between 2014 and 2017.

Suzie’s motto is ‘the only thing worse than going through something hard, is going through it alone’. She also quite likes ‘nothing has changed except my perception, and that has changed everything’.
Alongside featuring on Psychology Today’s counsellor directory, Suzie has recently joined It’s All About You’s directory of LGBTQ+ affirmative counsellors, the first from Plymouth!
Suzie hopes that doing so will let people know those aspects of themselves are really welcome and appreciated at Rainbow Counselling SW.
