Millfields Inspired is a charity established and supported by the Millfields Community Economic Development Trust (Millfields Trust) an established and respected social enterprise operating in the Stonehouse neighbourhood.

The Charity’s highly regarded Widening Horizons programme has been delivered into the seven primary schools in Stonehouse for the last 13 years. There is an opportunity to join our small but active team to coordinate and deliver the Charity’s programmes and in particular, the Widening Horizons programme.

We are looking for someone who has strong organisational and communication skills, balanced with the ability to work with primary aged children, their teachers, teaching assistants and business leaders. Quite a mix!

The role will be a mixture of back-office coordination and front-line delivery of the Charity programmes, plus assisting with organisation and delivery of annual events such as World Ocean Day and the Widening Horizons graduation ceremony.

JOB DESCRIPTION

Project Coordinator

Salary: £14,864.87 per annum (£25,000 full time equivalent)

Responsible for:

Delivery and coordination of projects for Millfields Inspired.

Responsible to:

Development Manager of Millfields Inspired.

Duties

1. Actively coordinate and deliver a variety of projects on behalf of the charity.

2. Work closely with the schools to secure their agreement, participation in and evaluation of programmes.

3. Nurture the relationships with headteachers, teachers and teaching assistants at local primary schools.

4. Coordinate the delivery of resources and collection of evaluations for programmes.

5. Work with and maintain good working relationships with community groups, partner organisations and the business community to arrange activities and visits which clearly achieve the programme goals. To provide immediate and longer-term feedback to hosts on the impact of the activities.

6. Deliver community events (such as World Oceans Day, Graduation Ceremony, KARST Gallery) in partnership with relevant organisations; strengthening these relationships to ensure the possibility of future collaborations.

7. Delivery of new projects into the community which may involve evening and weekend work.

8. Be the face of the ‘Widening Horizons’ programme and ambassador for the Charity.

9. Work as part of a small but active team and the ability to work on own initiative.

10. Create appropriate social media posts to reflect the programme activities.

Other factors

1. The person appointed will need to be able to work at least 4 days per week.

2. The post holder may be required to work evenings and weekends as required.

3. The post holder will need to be able to travel in and around Plymouth, getting to and from activity locations.

4. The post will be based within the offices of the Millfields Trust in Union Street Plymouth.

5. The post holder will be subject to an enhanced DBS check.

Desirable qualities

Strong organisational skills, a good working knowledge of safeguarding and an understanding of child protection. Above all, this person must have natural, confident communication skills, enjoy working with children and equally be assured around high-level business executives.
