World Ocean Day 2023 – Millfields Inspired

World Ocean Day 2023 on June 8th had a fantastic turnout at Firestone Bay. We were blessed with sunshine and lots of local families turned up for the activities which we had planned to contribute to and celebrate the conservation of our oceans.

The Rock Pool Project came along with their rock pool and an abundance of marvellous volunteers who spent time educating the children all about life in a rock pool.

The Sharks Trust sat on the beach with sharks’ teeth, sharks fins and lots of interesting artefacts. Children were able to learn all about sharks and their relatives that live in the sea.

We were also lucky enough to have the Ocean Conservation Trust join us who engaged the children in lots of fun activities. They also provided educational resources to help them understand all the animals that live in the sea.

Clean Our Patch came along and kindly helped clean up our beach so that the children could have fun and learn about the dangers of plastic for sea animals.

Families were fed with hot pasties and quenched their thirst with a drink from Devils Point Café.
Children said that they had ‘fun’ and it was ‘awesome’.

Millfields Inspired would like to thank all our wonderful volunteers for their commitment and hard work for World Ocean Day.  You all made the day memorable and fun so thank you so much!
